The SIC course is designed as a seven-module training program over a period of eight to nine months. Residents are lead through an implant case from diagnosis to restoration. Participants have the option to perform a case on one of their patients. Those choosing this option should bring models and radiographs of the patient to Module 1. Additional diagnostics, such as cone beam tomograms, may be required. All cases to be performed on live patients must be approved by the instructors.
Class size is limited to provide each participant with the full benefit of the hands-on experience both in the laboratory exercises and in the surgical and clinical procedures. Those who do not utilize a patient will have the opportunity to observe and assist with treatment.
Upon completion of the full program, attendees will receive 72 continuing education units and a Certificate of Completion.

Module 1: Diagnostic Records and Treatment Planning for Dental Implants
Module 1 is a two-day didactic session focusing on one of the most important components of any implant case - treatment planning, the key to the success of every implant case. The topics addressed during this module include the following:

Module 2: Site Preservation and Surgical Procedures for Placement of Dental Implants
Module 2 is a two-day didactic and laboratory session focusing on implant surgical placement techniques. The topics addressed during this module include the following:
Present your patient and treatment plan
Atraumatic extraction and site preservation grafting
Implant placement surgery
Hands-on placement on models

Module 3: Surgical Placement of Dental Implants
Module 3 is comprised of two sessions in a surgical office during which residents will perform implant placement surgery on their patients under the guidance of the instructors. Residents will attend all of these sessions and will have an opportunity to observe and/or assist with the cases.

Module 4: Advanced Procedures and Maintenance of Dental Implants4)
Module 4 is a two-day didactic session focusing on advanced surgical and prosthetic procedures, and potential complications that may arise with an implant case. The topics addressed during this module include the following::

Module 5: Restorative Procedures for Dental Implants4)
Module 4 is a two-day didactic and laboratory session focusing on prosthetic techniques for implant restoration. The topics addressed during this module include the following:
Prosthetic options for restoration of implants
Temporization3)
Selection of abutments and sulcus formers
During the laboratory exercises each participant will have models for hands-on experience with impression taking and temporization.

Module 6: Restoration of Dental Implants (Session I & II)
Module 6 is comprised of at least two clinical sessions in a prosthodontic office. During the first session residents will seat abutments and take impressions for the restoration of the implants they have placed. The subsequent session will include seating of the final restoration. Residents will attend all of these sessions and will have an opportunity to observe and/or assist with the cases.

Module 7: Case Presentation of Implant Placement and Restoration
Module 7 is a one-day session. Residents will present their cases from start to finish in PowerPoint format and each case will be discussed by the participants. The Continuum will conclude with dinner and presentation of certificates.
